We next moved down the road and spent a few days on the MacKenzie river, about an hour outside of Eugene, Oregon. This is a picture of one of the old covered bridges that we saw. This was a beautiful area and one we want to explore some more. We stayed at a campground at the Belknap hot springs and enjoyed some dips in the hot springs pool.
That ended our summer and now it was time to work for 5 weeks before our next vacation! I know, hard life!!!
On October 6th we flew out of Portland and headed for Kauai, one of the small islands of Hawaii. Wow, a beautiful place. This trip included Kevin and I, plus my mom. We got to celebrate Kevin's 56th birthday and mom's 80th birthday with this trip.
We did lots of fun things while in Kauai, but one that we enjoyed a lot was our kayak trip down the river. Just Kevin and I did this one (mom wasn't up to it!).
I loved this picture of our kayaks trailing behind the little motor boat we were in. We just paddled a few miles up the river and did some fun at a secluded spot on the river and then the motor boat picked us up so we didn't have to paddle against the current!
We did take a nice sunset cruise along the Na Pali coast line. Everyone enjoyed the first half! (got a bit sea sick on the last half, but it was beautiful!)
My cute husband, he didn't get sick and loved the trip. He took some beautiful pictures on the iPad, you can see some of them on our facebook page.
This as at Spouting Horn, not far from our condo. Beautiful day, just like the other 7 days that we were on the island. It was a wonderful trip and one that all of us will remember for years to come.
Okay, one last photo of Hawaii. I can't resist this beautiful picture of the mountains along the Na Pali coast line. These are called the "cathedrals" because of how they look like the spires on a Cathedrals in Europe. The shapes and colors are just beautiful.
